Our workforce development program centers climate-adaptive careers, with a strong focus on the kitchen as a training ground for the next generation of chefs. Participants learn to cook from scratch, build low-waste kitchens, and transform local produce—often food that would otherwise be considered waste—including biomass collected from the land—into nourishing meals. In a region known as the breadbasket of the world yet facing food access challenges, the program highlights the abundance that already exists and turns it into sustainable careers. Alongside the kitchen pathway, the Fresno TEK program, developed in partnership with California Openlands, creates workforce opportunities in ecological restoration across California.
